THOMAS WINS NATIONAL Open 20kms Scratch Race Final

1st, 2nd , 3rd All riding Dolan Track Bikes

5th September - As they were Geraint Thomas seemed to drift off the front in the home straight with five laps to go, saw the gap and stepped on the gas. The former World Junior Scratch race champion didn't need more of an invitation and he quickly opened up a gap. Riders behind panicked and chased but were making no impression and with two laps to go, the chasers sat up.

Thomas carried on, almost lapping them by the time he crossed the line, arm aloft in triumphant fashion after a awesome ride to stay away in the final. Behind, it was the new generation of riders who dominated the sprint, Under 23 Academy rider Mark Cavendish coming second from new Under 23 Academy rider Ben Swift and yet another from the Academy Ed Clancy in fourth. That was some finish!

ANDY TENNANT - WORLD JUNIOR CHAMPION

CONGRATULATIONS TO ANDY ON WINING THE 2005 WORLD  JUNIOR  INDIVIDUAL PURSUIT.

8th August - Once the ride off for the bronze medal in the Individual Pursuit was over, it was the turn of Andy Tennant to ride for gold. He actually won it easily in the end and it lifted the spirits in the camp after the disappointment of several riders just missing out on medals night before. Talking to Darren Tudor, who has only been ODP Coach for seven months, he said of Andy's win "I think its fantastic. He has worked hard all year and done everything you can ask. He's a brilliant pursuiter and I think he proved tonight all the conditioning work he has done has helped him back up his rides really well. He's almost matched what he did this morning (a new national record) which is fantastic."

ANNA BLYTHE - SEALS BRONZE

9th August - Anna's Bronze .... At the start of the night's racing, the expected highlight was the Team Pursuit but as it turned out, there were many more. A fantastic Silver medal for Anna Blyth for example. The young lady who rides for British team, VC St Raphael/Waite Contracts, was outstanding tonight but even she came away disappointed losing the final for the Womens Sprint 2:1 to a Cuban girl. Anna remember is a first year Junior and relatively new to sprinting. A rider will always go into a competition with the aim to win but realistically prior to the competition, Anna was expected to get in the top six or so in what was her first year in this category.
